- Advanced non-small cell lung cancer, combined with Parkinson's disease
- Treatment/medical stage
- Immunotherapy and multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment
Existing treatment options are gradually decreasing
An American patient in his seventies, Daniel, suffers from advanced non-small cell lung cancer and Parkinson's disease. After receiving multiple lines of treatment in the United States, disease control was still unsatisfactory. An American doctor introduced the availability of ivonescimab in China, and the family further contacted Shanghai Jiahui to learn whether there were new treatment opportunities.
Evaluate not only the tumor, but also the overall condition
Daniel's children have a medical background and participated in the early communication. Because he faced both oncology and neurological diseases, the team needed to comprehensively consider previous medications, physical status, treatment tolerance, and hospital care, rather than deciding on the entire plan based on just one new drug.
New challenges arise during treatment
Reports record that patients develop immune-related adverse reactions during immunotherapy and require intensive care support. Jiahui organized collaboration among oncology, neurology and critical care medicine departments, and invited Professor Zhou Caicun to participate in the discussion; at the same time, Parkinson's disease medication was adjusted to deal with concurrent problems.
Continue treatment after stabilizing the condition
After the patient's condition stabilizes, he will be transferred back to the general ward and continue to receive treatment and observation. This case illustrates the search for new options when treatment options are limited, and the multidisciplinary team response to adverse effects. Public reports did not describe the results of this phase as a cancer cure.
